Either way, they choose only the safest, highest-quality instruments available.
You can also choose tax-exempt money market funds, which invest in the highest-quality, short-term
municipal bonds. Some tax exempt MMFs pay income that is exempt only from federal taxes, while others
pay income that is exempt from federal and state taxes.
